Arnaud Poissonnier, Director, ABC Microfinance

After having worked for 12 years in a bank, Arnaud Poissonnier made a life-changing decision in 2005 to devote some time developing a Microfinance network of ACTED called OXUS Micro Finance. Exposing himself to the social world of development had its lasting impact.

In February 2008, he joined forces with Aurélie Duthoit to create the social business ABC Microfinance and launched the first French peer-to-peer micro lending website. Babyloan.org leverages the power of the internet to engage the general public in the refinancing of Microfinance Institutes in a unique, transparent and informative way.

Babyloan’s ambition is to become a European leader in the emerging sector of peer-to-peer micro lending. Today Babyloan has more than 3000 members who have lent over €170,000 to refinance more than 500 projects in Benin, Cambodia, Tajikistan… and more recently in Vietnam, Ecuador and Philippines.
