David Fitzherbert, Founding Partner, Grassroots Capital

David brings to Grassroots Capital a unique combination of entrepreneurial and investment experience. His ability and skill to identify and maximize opportunities is an essential component of Grassroots Capital’s capability. David gained extensive fund management expertise during his 10 year tenure at Hambros Bank, where he served as an investment manager and ultimately became the director responsible for managing the bank’s operations in Japan.
Following his successful career in investment banking, David moved into the field of renewable energy and founded, managed and successfully sold two UK-based renewable energy companies before being introduced to microfinance. David’s involvement in microfinance began at the investor level when he personally invested in the Deutsche Bank Global Commercial Microfinance Consortium. In July 2006, he was appointed as the first outside member of the Gray Ghost Microfinance Fund’s Investment Committee, before founding Grassroots Capital with Paul DiLeo in 2007. David is a graduate of Oxford University, where he studied philosophy, politics and economics.
